Christmas Time

So we are in that time of year. The one where New Year is  barely over then we worry about it coming again. We stress so much about these two days. Everything we do all year leads up to Christmas or is toward it. We psyche ourselves out with details and plans for The Festive Season.

We have lists that go on forever: Gifts, food, decorations, new appliances, toys

Buying gifts is therapy as well for the buyer. It makes us feel all happy and bubbly and excited. We need gifts for our parents, our children. We need gifts for friends and extended family. The perfect gift that says I had you in mind when I bought it. You are special to me. You might even need gifts for your boss. The mailman or your plumber. Running around searching for gifts is exhausting. And in 2020 not a good idea. We need it made simple.

Parents

With our parents it is not so difficult. Unless you have a difficult parent. Small simple gifts  satisfy most elders. Something they would buy for themselves or something they have been putting off buying. Intimate items that when they look at it they can't help but smile and think of the one that bought it. If you are like me any gift you give a parent is special to that parent.

Children

Gifts for children are both easy and complicated at once. Yes there are millions of toys and many gaming consoles out there but we have a budget as well. So choose a gift according to the child's personality and likes and dislikes. Listen to what they speak about during the year for tips. Then closer to the time subtly bring up those topics to narrow down the list. That's my trick. But because I'm human I will want to buy something that I think they would like. Don't. Unless you know your child very well. Or else Christmas is a bust.

Decorations

What is Christmas without all the trimmings. Mind the pun. Some people live for decorations at Christmas time. Outdoor, indoor and every room in between. I myself love Christmas decorations. The more the merrier. It just puts you in the spirit of Christmas. Even though I have I am always tempted to buy more under the pretense that the once I have are old. Not that I throw them away. Oh no. It's not right to throw out Christmas decorations unless they can't serve the purpose anymore.

New Appliances

I don't know about you but where I come from this is the time for new everything. People work all year and go all year without just so they can buy now. I don't know the point of it but I suspect it is about the visitors being impressed. They only paint their houses this time too. This is my opinion based on what I have seen and experienced. So the kitchen appliances need an upgrade. Even though it was probably upgraded last year it's so outdated. We need the newer model.

Husband

The love of your life must have the perfect gift that tells him I love you. Right? That's the hope. Yet they are difficult to please sometimes as well. It's a slippery slope on what to buy your hubby. It is based solely on his interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes. Yes you can buy something you think will suit him but .... The happiness you expect will not be there. He will have to pretend to like it. Not good because it will be put in the back of the drawer or cupboard never to be seen again.

Yourself

Don't forget yourself in this crazy time. It's been hint hint all year now we have to wait and see if they heard it. All we hope for and everything on our wish list. Now is the time to see if he or they have been paying attention. Fingers crossed. But in the meantime spoil yourself as well.

Have a safe and merry Christmas
